Last weekend I had the opportunity to attend the largest fashion and beauty tradeshow event on the East Coast, Emiliani Enterprises hosted their 2012 BeautyExpo, RUNWAY V. The event was held at the NJ Convention and Expo Center in Edison, NJ. The VIP opening night ceremony was held on Saturday, October 20th from 6:30-11pm and the Beauty Expo will began on Sunday, October 21st - Monday, October 22nd from 9am-5pm. Some event highlights will included a tribute to Vidal Sassoon, a 100ft runway show event featuring top designers & stylists, and an exhibitor display of Ri Ci Curls - a five product hair line targeted specifically for women with curly hair founded by Ricky Pennisi. Successful salon owner and stylist Ricky Pennisi, the founder of RI CI products, has specialized in curly hair since 1995. Ricky recognized the need to develop cutting techniques and products uniquely designed for his curly-haired clients. Knowing that the challenges presented by curly hair is unique to each client, Ricky set out to develop a product line with the ability to achieve beautiful curls each and every time while keeping the range of products simple and easy to understand. Ricky developed formulations utilizing the best available ingredients and testing the products on his most challenging curly-haired clientele. My daughter and I were able to get consultations and our hair styled at the show by Ricky Pennisi himself! Up until attending the show I had never heard of RI CI Curls. It gave my hair so much moisture, definition and shine. The best part is that it gives you the wet/ gelled hair look with out the damage or that hard crunchy texture. I also love hat my hair was still looking great, practically the same definition 3 to 4 days after having it styled. The products used on both my daughter and I were the products that come in the "Styling Kit" which are: (1) 16oz. Splash Shampoo, (1) 16oz. Drench Conditioner, (1) 8oz. Thirsty Styling Gel, (1) 8oz. Memory Setting Spray and (1) 3oz. Velvet Serum. Click to read detailed product ingredients. Between the products and the RI CI Styling Steps my hair has never looked better! I cannot say anything more positive about these products other than I love them! After having had my hair styled it was my daughters turn and she gladly agreed. Like me she tends to have tons of shrinkage and the products seemed to help a tad. Also my main problem with her hair is it flattening in the back when she sits in the car seat. I noticed the curls kept their shape, definition and bounce all I had to do was fluff it a bit with my fingers and it looked great.
Sweater/Sueter- Forever 21 (Similar) Cargo Vest/Chaleco Militar- Guess (Similar) Tights/Lycras-JcPenney (Similar) Boots/Botas- DSW (Similar) Last week I went pumpkin picking with a close friend and our children. My husband and Sister also joined in on the fun. We went to Farms View in Wayne, NJ about 20 minute ride from my house. I have been here in the past and enjoyed it. For only $8 you get to go on a hayride to the pumpkin field, a small pumpkin, a cup of fresh apple cider and a donut or cookie (go with the donut it is awesome) There is also lots see for the children, many displays as well as a barn yard with an array of animals. I have had this sweater for years already, the cargo vest is a recent purchase from my fall wish list. The tights were a "fab find" they were on clearance for $5 at JcPenney. I bought my boots last year of the year before from DSW. I also have them in black, a great investment. I am currently participating in Johnson & Johnson’s #InspireCare social media campaign! For many years, Johnson & Johnson has worked with its partners to care for the well-being of mothers and children around the world. It is estimated that Johnson & Johnson and its partners touch more than one billion people’s lives each day through health care products, services and various programs. At this year’s LATISM 2012 conference, Johnson & Johnson will be showcasing some of these initiatives under the theme “global motherhood.” You are invited to learn more about this work and help them spread the word through social media about the challenges that mothers face around the world. You can inspire mothers like you to join them in helping other mothers by raising awareness about important issues and some of the solutions that make a difference. Please stop by suite Arboretum II during the LATISM 2012 conference to talk with Johnson & Johnson and its partners about the work they do. To help start the conversation about global motherhood, I want to share with you how my mother has inspired me to be the caring mother that I am for my family. My mother is not only my best friend but my biggest supporter and greatest example. I always tell everyone that I have always felt that I had the greatest childhood. I have never felt deprived of anything. If we ever had a need or where ever tight financially I was never aware. My mother was beyond loving, a hard working women and an educated one as well. Not only book smart but street smart over all well rounded and cultured. She instilled in me all of those qualities that I too wish to instill in my daughter. Apart from my mother, my daughter also inspires me to be the best mother that I can be. Children are like sponges and know that she is listening and watching to all that I say and do forces me to be the best version of myself that I can be. Whether it is eating healthy, working out, going to church or expressing myself more eloquently I do it because I know that she is learning from me. I would like to Invite you all to get involved in raising awareness about global motherhood by using their social networks for social good. I am sorry the lack of posts and social media presence this week. My husband has been in the hospital all week with due to a kidney stone. Thank God is doing better but he still isn't home just yet. This was an outfit idea I created either for a "how to wear military boots" post or for a "fall outfit idea" post, it could have even been a "what to wear with combat boots" post. Here is the thing, turns out I liked this outfit idea so much I tried to recreate it the best I could with items I already owned. I don't have a midi skirt although it is on my wish list I have not been able to find the perfect one with in my price range just yet. I have been using an American Apparel Cotton Spandex Jersey Strapless Ruched Dress pulled down as my midi skirt. You can see how I wore it before here. Oh and these are the boots I tweeted about a few weeks ago, that I got them for like 40 bucks after two DSW credits and free shipping. I wore this on Saturday but was unable to take any pictures. I think i need to invest in a self timer control for my camera. I'm moving soon so taking self pics might be easier in the new yard. Lets see, hope you liked this outfit idea has a bit of a rocker's edge. I was supposed to wear this for my commencement ceremony but due to unforeseen circumstances I won't be attending anytime soon. I decided to wear it to the next best place, church! My peplum top was only $10 bucks from the clearance rack, I have a thing for little elephants. I pulled the royal blue or cobalt as some people call it from the stars. How do you like this look? Dress/Vestido- Carters
