Disclosure: This post is in partnership with JOHNSON’S®. However all opinions expressed are my own. JOHNSON’S® is all new inside and out! I’m so excited to be apart of the JOHNSON’S® Familia and to be able to share this wonderful news! They have always made it a point to be gentle for babies of all ages but now JOHNSON’S® is focusing on being even gentler! They believe in the immense, transformative power of gentle in the world. Of being gentle with our children, and with their dreams and ambitions. Gentle with each other. Gentle with the earth. Gentle with our words and thoughts and actions. Gentle means safe. Gentle means pure. Gentle means confident. Gentle means happy! JOHNSON’S® continues to choose gentle and has made five promises, one promise for each finger of baby’s little hand. 1. Only use purposeful ingredients 2. Never stop raising the bar 3. Be open and honest 4. Think like a parent first 5. Help make the world a gentler place Their first promise got me thinking about how parenting is also about choosing the right ingredients and focusing on what truly matters. The ingredients in our products are just as important as the “ingredients” we use with child rearing. It is important to learn from our own upbringing and past to best raise our little ones. I’ve been really open about being a “Drone Mom” and how I like to hover and be a part of every aspect of my children’s lives and this also includes the products I use on them. I always say to to anyone who asks, that I had the best childhood. Granted my Mami was a bit old-school in her rearing but the older I get and the more I’m a Mamá myself I see how keeping a little of those old-school rearing ingredients while adding some new parenting skills can make a big difference. Specifically, keeping those morals, values and ethics are quite important to me. I want to instill decency and a big sense of faith in my children. Things that helped to shape me as I was growing up and made me the person I am today. At the same time, understanding it’s 2018; social media, technology and society as a whole is entirely different. With our traditional parenting “ingredients” I get to keep some of those old-school values that Mami used with me. JOHNSON’S® reduced the number of ingredients in their portfolio by more than 50%. When it comes to both parenting and your baby’s products what ingredients are most important to you? I’m all about simple, easy, natural and meaningful ingredients. Already free of parabens and phthalates, the washes, shampoos, lotions and creams are now even gentler without dyes and sulfates. 96% of the ingredients in the washes, lotions and hair care are naturally-derived! My parenting secret ingredient is patience and grace. I try to stay as cool, calm and collected as possible. If kids see you break a sweat then they will know you crack under pressure and will use that to their advantage.
But patience also helps me to parent with a clearer mind, focus, and to not be distracted by the chaos of it all. I don’t want my little ones to remember me as “Mami always lost her cool”. Patience and grace is the one parent tradition I hope to pass on to my children. For every problem there’s a solution. If we stay calm then we can figure it all out. |
