3 Ways to Pull Off Wearing a Tied Shirt Around Your Waist

Remember that Spring Luncheon I posted about not too long ago? Well this is what I wore. I had been wanting to try the popular 90's trend of wearing a shirt tied around your waist and the Spring Fling Party was the perfect event to give it a try. I think I pulled it off and here are the 3 ways I made this trend work.

Formally known for its grunge appeal, tying a shirt around your waist has made a come back. Typically a flannel is tied around the waist but in reality now you can tie just about any button down as long as it works with your outfit. 

• Use a large shirt.

I tried using one of my normal flannel shirts and it didn't work! I barely got it to tie at the waist, it didn't hang properly and wasn't long enough. So I borrowed one of my husband's shirts and had success!

• Pay attention to the colors.

Be sure to consider the colors of your shirt. Either choose a color that blends with and plays up the colors outfit or go with a nice bold color (that still compliments your outfit) for POP! Try going with a fun print as well.

• Wear heels.

Dressing up this trend with a pair of heels gives you a casual chic look and an effortlessly cool vibe. Not to mention that you will be ready for just about any occasion in this outfit.

• Pair it with a graphic tee.
  

A graphic tee adds an additional layer of texture and color that brings in fun and flair to the outfit. Also it gives you that cool laid back vibe while keeping in proportion with the shirt tied at your waist.
