Over Editing PhotosI will be the first to admit that I have used my Windows photo editor to remove an unsightly blemish from my face if need be. However I really think some bloggers need to take it down a notch on the "smoothing" & "noise reduction" or rather yet take it down a few percents. Maybe from 80% to more like 30%. Why would anyone want their eyebrows to look like they were put on with a wide tip sharpie beats me. I am not sure if they think they are fooling anyone but I can definitely tell that its not your natural look. Their face is practically blurred, the texture of the clothes changes as well. Do they have on jeans or leggings?? It's not a good look, not even tabloid magazines use that much Photoshop. Besides as a blogger we influence an array of women, why trick them into to thinking we have flawless baby butt smooth skin? Isn't fashion blogging supposed to be about real people with real style? Flooding Instagram with PreviewsI understand promoting posts on social networks all bloggers do it. I do it too, I'll post a pic of a new outfit post but again A PIC not 3 or 4. I think its pretty annoying and redundant to post 4 outfit post preview pictures on Instagram. You post a layout of your outfit on your bed, then you post a preview of your shoes, then a preview of the accessories. Then a photo collage and a few hours or a day later, just for kicks one more photo collage. I really don't want to see so many pictures of the same look every few hours or two days in a row. Not only that but why would I then want to go click on the link in your bio and visit your blog? You already Instablogged it and showed me almost every possible angle of your outfit. Also in just about every caption you have tagged all the brands you're wearing. I get it, you hope they see your post and give you a shout out, maybe even a retweet or the ultimate goal a collaboration. But again there is no longer a need to go visit your blog, I've seen the pics, I know which brands you wore & if you really got detailed, where you wore it to. Copying Other BloggersIt is one thing to be inspired by a fellow blogger or a blogger who may have even inspired you to start a fashion blog in the first place. But straight up copying is not cool, it is so unoriginal. I have seen it many times, one will wear a high-low dress with caged sandals today and then another tomorrow. The fashion blogsphere can be huge but at the same time we tend to follow the same bloggers. I understand when you like a pair of shoes you like a pair of shoes but buying almost every pair of shoes every other fashion blogger does isn't cool, it maybe time to cancel ShoeDazzle, JustFab and SoleSociety. If every fashion blogger shops in the same places and buys the same things where is the creativity and innovativeness? What is making your personal style personal? Shopping In The Juniors DepartmentI love Forever21 just as much as the next budget fashionista but lets face it not everything in the juniors department is going to fit me well. Fit is everything! What looks good on a size 4 model online may not look so hot on a 30 year old mom. (I am a 28 year old mom so I can say this) You have to be very mindful of the length of skirts, dresses and shorts. As well as the inseam of jeans, low rise jeans & hip huggers do not flatter every figure. It all depends on your proportions. As I mentioned before as a fashion blogger we influence other women on what to wear & I sure wouldn't to give anyone the idea that it's ok to rock a too short skirt or a camel toe because your jeans aren't fitting properly. Bonus: Reaching Out To Brands Another Blogger Is/Has Worked WithReaching out to a brand another blogger has worked with or is working with is a bit unethical. Does blogging have to be so competitive? What happened to the fashion blogging world being about community, networking & growth?? Maybe only in my world.... In closing I want to say that nope I am not hating, I am not a hater as people say, because now in days every one is a hater or has a hater -.- no one died and made me the fashion blogger police either lol These are just simply some observations I have made and felt the need to share them on the blog in hopes of making the fashion blogsphere a little better. |
