On Thursday December 19 I had the pleasure of not only attending an exclusive blogger's Holiday meet up event just for bloggers & their friends but I was also a featured speaker as well as assisted host & fellow NJ Latina Blogger, Lillie Morales of Jersey Fashionista with a couple aspects of the planning. The event took place at Quintum Studios in Hoboken, New Jersey.

It was a really great opportunity for me as a blogger, I made new blogger memories, met many lovely bloggers and got to meet some new ones as well. I had prepared a speech and was all set to go but for some reason got nervous when I was handed the mic.

What I wanted to say:

Hi guys it's Alicia from Chica-Fashion.com a now fashion and lifestyle blog because when I started out three years ago it was simply a blog where I share outfit ideas using shopstyle.com. Since then it has grown it to so much more and I cover my topics now. But this year (2013) I had a moment where I felt that I wasn't were I should/needed to be or that I didn't have the following and big break I deserved.

I let myself have a two minute pity party then decided I wasn't going to wait for a big break and would just make one for myself and some how for other bloggers as well. Which is how I created NJ Latina Bloggers a group to share grow and learn from one another. But that wasn't enough I needed/wanted to earn money and because I know other bloggers have the same desire I along with a couple of Friends created Metropolitan Latina Collective. Essentially NJLB but for all Latina bloggers and with paid posts, contest, giveaways and more!

So to you blogger who is feeling down or about to give up I say keep at what you are doing because blogging isn't about events, Instagram followers or the see and be seen it is supposed to be about passion a creative outlet for you and a place to share with others. Your big break will come and if it doesn't make it yourself! 

What I said:

There should be a video here with my actual speech but somehow in the shuffle it disappeared. The good thing though is that I pretty much said what I originally planned on but maybe added a few things and removed other out of nerves. However I got some pretty good feed back and people seemed to respond well to my short but genuine speech.
