New Year's Eve is only 3 days away! That is literally more than enough time to put together a last minute New Year's Eve party at home for your friends and family. Not sure how to go about it or how to decorate? No worries, my blogger friend Lee of Miss LV teamed up to give you some tips. DecorThe first thing you are going to want to do is decide on a color scheme, we went with the traditional black, gold and white. You're going to want to pick up from the dollar store; gold balloons, tissue paper honeycomb ball and fans. You may have some things at home already like the candle sticks and mason jars, which you can either spray paint or modge podge with glitter. You may also have some glass vases and fish bowls you can also use to decorate. Bring out your dinning set, champagne glasses and chargers. If you don't have any chargers many dollar stores and craft stores carry them as well as tea light candles. Candles add instant ambiance and create mood lighting. You are also going to want to pick up from a fabric or craft store a yard or so of a glittery fabric. I got this gold sequin fabric from Jo-Anne fabrics on clearance for $6.99. While there I also bought the gold pom poms to glue on the skewers to make stirrers. A big part of the decor where paper goods from The LVR Shop that Lee made. She made the super cute photo props, place settings and star garland. TablescapeEvery event has the main self serve table. To decorate we used an existing piece of polka dot fabric Lee had and the other half of the sequin fabric flipped over as a runner. I use the runner to hid my risers. You can use anything from a bowl to a tupperware container as a riser. I like using them because they add height and depth to the table. The main elements of decor for this table are the serving trays, plates and bowls along with tealight candles, gold ornaments and the backdrop. The backdrop consist of a star garland which can be found over at The LVR shop, NYE phrases and dollar store tissue paper decor. Food & DrinkTypically the majority of Hispanics have a full on feast decked with pernil, empanadas, lasagna and the like. For purposes of the post we kept the snacks light. You could do this as well and then just order some Chinese take out to avoid further fuss. I found the easiest caramel cream cheese dip on Pinterest. It is pretty simple. Jus cream cheese, caramel, chopped walnuts and apples. Another super quick recipe I found was roasted pears, Laughing Cow cheese wrapped in bacon, delicious and really easy! Store bought cupcakes sprinkled with gold sprinkles, placed over black and white confetti - also from the LVR Shop make for an appealing and elegant dessert. I love apple cider but some Barefoot bubbly would be just as nice on New Year's Eve. |
