I am not sure at what point during my Pinterest browsing I came across a cowboy themed newborn photo session. But in that instant I became fixated with the idea of having a cowboy themed baby shower. It could have been the super adorable knitted cowboy booties or that precious baby boy in a knitted cowboy hat. Either way I knew that I would be having a western themed baby shower. Similarly to my first baby shower I would be doing all of the planning and decorating. In Hispanic families surprise showers are common and a very sweet sentiment. The planning and decorating is left to the spouse, parents and Godparents. However my event planning bug would not let me not decorate my own shower. So I went to work and here is what I came up with. You can pick up all of the supplies I used from here. OutfitsNow we wouldn't be a true Familia Fashion if we did not dress the part for the western theme. I encouraged guest to dress western and made sure I did so myself. My outfit: Dress- Asos, Vest- Forever 21, Belt- Target, Boots- DSW, Necklace- Ebay. Naliya's Outfit: Dress- Target, Vest- Oshkosh, Boots- Target?, The Hubs: Vest, t-shirt & shoes- Macy's, Jeans- JCPenney. InvitationI made the western baby shower invitation myself with Photoshop using Etsy invites as examples after not falling in love with anything on the site. I had them printed at my local CVS. TablescapeTo decorate each table I used a piece of burlap as a runner, red and blue bandanas, cans - I saved them each time I used one, tin vases, dollar store flowers, wood ABC blocks, red gingham ribbon and twine. Each table had cans next to the center piece, one with cream mints and one with peanuts. DrinksI set up a drink table featuring lemonade and Iced tea in drink dispensers. Along with traditional plastic red cups I had milk bottles- I bought Starbucks Fraps from BJs and cleaned them out, this was cheaper than new ones at the time. Not pictured but right next to the table is a water cooler as well. My uncle made the letters at work and I taped them to this dollar store brown paper wrapping paper that had gold stars on it. FoodTo decorate the food table I used more burlap, risers DIY tissue paper pom poms hung with twine. My babyshower was almost 3 years ago so I don't remember the full menu but some of the things we had were
DessertsMy aunt gifted me with a cake, cupcakes, cakepops as well as candied apples. SouvenirsI have always hated traditional hispanic chaki type souvenirs with those ceramic babies on a piece of glittered styrofoam platforms. Those were a definite no-no for me so as with my first shower I opted for something that could be of more use such as a candleholder. I ordered these western inspired tealight candle holders from Oriental Trading. Babyshower ChairI also do not like the traditional Hispanic high back wicker baby shower chair that the mom to be has to sit in. I opted for an old rocker my mom had on her front porch. I had my father reinforce it and then cleaned it up. I decorated it with red deco mesh, burlap ribbon and rope. GIft TableUsing a cork board and roped I made my son a sign with his name. I used a dollar stor bandana banner and stencil to create the gift table garland. DetailsInspirationThese were the pictures that inspired it all! |
