Summer Diaries: Visit to Ikea Elizabeth

For our first summer activity I decided to take the kids to Ikea in Elizabeth, NJ since I already needed to pick up a few items for my Office Closet (#ChicaFashionCave). My daughter did not think this would be a fun activity but was surprised by how much there actually is to see and do.

I chose the Elizabeth Ikea specifically because it is situated right next to Newark International airport, which means that flights are constantly landing or taking off. The best part is that, the Ikea cafe is positioned in such a way that as we sat and ate our lunch we got to see all of the planes - very exciting, especially for Aarlen. 

Which leads me to the first thing there is to do; eat! Our first stop was the cafe since we hadn't had lunch. As if the prices weren't cheap enough to save I had the kids share a meal because I just know my kids and know they wouldn't each finish their own meal. Plus the drink is free refill - no brainer. 

As I made my way to get what I actually went there for, we browsed the store, stopping along the way to test items out, admire the styling, decor and details. They also had mini races and played tag, normally I don't allow these things but this was an "activity" after all.  

We stopped at the ball pit/play area which should have been the main event but unfortunately Aarlen was too small and Naliya did not want to go in alone. Also, Aarlen would have freaked if she went in without him - he's almost a threenager your know!

My son had a good time because usually he is in the cart but that day I let him roam free for the most part. It was pretty cute to see what caught his attention. Where he could he would hide and I'd pretend to not see him. Of course the visit would not have been complete without some fresh cinnamon buns with extra icing. Next time I think it would be could to play iSpy with Naliya or write up an Scavenger hunt for her.
